A highlight of my Sociology experience these past four years was definitely completing my senior thesis. I felt like I grew so much from the whole process of interviewing people, transcribing, and writing each chapter. Another highlight would be getting to know some of the most brilliant graduate students and professors, including my thesis advisor Mo Torres and Professor Robert Sampson.

I am currently a first year medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Sociology played an enormous role in my decision to apply to medical school; through my Sociology class and thesis research, I learned about the health disparities that exist in the U.S. and the barriers that underserved communities face to being healthy. Because of this, I am interested in working with incarcerated people and detained immigrants and asylum seekers as a physician.
