Faculty and students in the Department of Sociology are engaged in a wide range of research projects spanning sites as close as downtown Boston to those as distant as El Salvador, Japan, and China. Research efforts are funded through federal agencies, private foundations, and numerous research centers throughout Harvard. Department workshops provide a venue through which graduate students and faculty present ongoing research and engage in discussion of methodological and substantive challenges in their work.
