Maël Lecoursonnais is a visiting Ph.D. student from the Institute of Analytical Sociology, Linköping University, Sweden. His research focuses on spatial inequalities using causal and machine learning methods. His work centers around how space create and sustains inequalities and aims at showing that individuals’ spatial patterns and mobility shapes their life chances, e.g. education, criminality, employment opportunities. His Ph.D. thesis has focused on the long-term effects of sustained exposure to disadvantaged neighborhoods, the spatial determinants of academic aspirations, and the life-course trajectories of segregation. His research uses Swedish full-population administrative data.
