Yoonjae Shin
Research Interests: Labor market, corporate governance, inequality, culture
Yoonjae Shin is a doctoral student in the Organizational Behavior program jointly offered by Harvard Business School and the Department of Sociology at Harvard University. His research focuses on the impact of firms’ strategic decisions and institutional environments on labor market and workplace inequality. In particular, he investigates the influence of various stakeholders, such as executives, institutional investors, and the media, on the career progression and performance of rank-and-file employees. He aims to employ computational text analysis to gain insights into the cultural and social norms surrounding inequality and diversity.
Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, Yoonjae worked in the project team at Seoul National University. During this time, he analyzed administrative data from the Ministry of Labor and Employment to explore the effect of firms’ competitive pressure on workplace injuries. He is actively collaborating with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency to promote workplace safety and employee’s well-being.
