Reischauer Institute Director Prof. Mary Brinton has been conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the Government of Japan, in recognition of her contributions to the field of Japanese Studies. The citation also commends Professor Brinton’s observations and insightful arguments of Japanese society, including her research on labor markets and gender mainstreaming measures, which have had on impact not only on Japan scholars but policy makers and the broader Japanese public.
