Clifford C. Clogg Scholarship

The methodology sections of the American Sociological Association (ASA) worked with the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) to establish a scholarship in honor of the late Clifford C. Clogg, an innovator in quantitative social research methods and Academic Advisor to the ICPSR Summer Program. The Clogg Scholarship is a waiver of Program Scholar (non-credit) fees to attend one or both of the four-week sessions in the ICPSR Summer Program. The Clogg Scholarship is open to students pursuing a degree in Sociology. One of the applicant's declared areas of concentration must be methodology, statistical analysis, or formal modeling. All applicants must register for at least one four-week workshop, but are not required to pay the registration fee in order to apply for the scholarship. Note that workshop selections may be changed later, but that the ICPSR Scholarship Committee may use your course preference as a criterion in the selection process.

The following application materials are required:

  1. A current curriculum vitae
  2. A cover letter explaining how participation in the ICPSR Summer Program will contribute toward the completion of your degree
  3. Two letters of recommendation from faculty

The application deadline for all 2019 ICPSR scholarships was Sunday, March 31, 2019. Please check back in February 2020 for information about how to apply for a scholarship to the 2020 Summer Program.
