Nayun Eom is a doctoral student in Sociology. She is broadly interested in how social inequality and stratification persist through the ongoing digitization of labor, with much of her previous work examining the gig economy. In particular, she is interested in how digital platforms can make workers invisible, and the impact of this new form of precarious labor on marginalized populations. In her graduate studies, she aims to explore the perception of labor rights, the dignity of work, power relations, and the structural mechanisms of inequality in digitally mediated workplaces. She hopes to further the understanding of the impact of technology on the future of work. Nayun received her B.A. in Sociology with a second major in Economics and a minor in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) at Tufts University.
Previous Degrees:
