Luca Carbone is a PhD candidate in Mass Communication at KU Leuven, Belgium, where he is part of the ERC project MIMIc. Working at the intersection of cultural sociology and media psychology, Luca researches the production of narratives about success (i.e., social status and meritocracy) in contemporary mainstream cultural products–with a specific focus on music–and their internalization processes among adolescents. His research further explores the intersectional consequences that such representations have for adolescents’ and artists’ well-being, such as in terms of performance pressure, anxiety, and depression.
