Research Interests: Education; Inequality; Race, Ethnicity and Immigration; and Social Networks

Eun Se is a PhD student in Sociology. She received her BA in Sociology and Psychology from Columbia University. In her senior thesis, she investigated the role hagwons, the Korean supplementary educational institutes, play in Korean American students’ academic achievements. In the coming years, Eun Se plans to examine the differential experiences Asian American students have with supplementary education. In particular, she is interested in how mothers’ social ties are essential for students’ engagement with various supplementary education programs. Eun Se was born and grew up in Seoul, South Korea.
