Daisy Gonzalez Sanchez

Sociology - Honors Track, Class of 2027

Hi everyone! My name is Daisy Gonzalez Sanchez, a Senior from South Carolina living in Kirkland House! I am concentrating in Sociology (and writing a thesis) with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights (EMR). Within the department, I have taken a variety of courses across many topics, including migration, childhood, and education, and more. I am excited to be a Sociology PCA and help students explore all the wonderful courses our department offers!

I am also pre-law, with a specific interest in immigration and family law. Outside of academics, I am primarily involved with Latinas Unidas, the Crimson Flyby board, and the Harvard Admissions and Financial Aid Office media team. Off campus, I volunteer with a legal aid organization, attend as many concerts as I can, and enjoy capturing my world through pictures.

Why Sociology?

I was fortunate to be introduced to Sociology in high school through a dual-enrollment program. So, my first semester on campus, I took the Introduction to Sociology course and never looked back. During my first few semesters at H, I considered pursuing a double or a joint concentration with other departments, but Sociology always remained in the picture. Eventually, I settled on studying just Sociology because every class was eye-opening, and I wanted to ensure I had space on my schedule to continue taking courses within the department. Sociology offers the opportunity to study a broad range of topics and to pinpoint a subfield if you wish. Thanks to the classes I have taken, I can better understand the world around me and how it functions.
