Brian Xiao (pictured right) is a PhD candidate in Sociology and Doctoral Trainee in Demography and Population Sciences at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies. His interests include family demography, wealth, population health, and the riveting minutiae of survey design and methods. One strand of his research explores the complexity of family form and change in the United States, with a focus on the identification of family ties in household surveys. Another set of projects explores the role of wealth in producing disparities in health, including how racial inequalities in wealth contribute to racial inequalities in physical health at midlife.

Brian has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he was born and raised, and where Dave (pictured left), his cat, currently resides.
