LyLena Estabine

LyLena Estabine, a concentrator in Sociology with a track in Data Analytics, has been inducted into the Alpha Iota Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest academic honor society. LyLena is part of the 'Senior 48' from the Class of 2024.

LyLena’s work could be summarized as a dedication to improving systems and policy through creative enterprise and investigation. Her senior honors thesis looks at the city of Chicago as a case study to examine through both qualitative and quantitative methods how sense of ownership and trust influence the ways residents engage with shaping their neighborhoods. Other work Estabine has done seeks to connect interdisciplinary inquiry with modes of presentation accessible to people of all backgrounds (music, theater, poetry, etc.). Her most recent creative project called “Songs of Prophets” connects an original worship song with each of the biblical prophets, the first volume of which can be listened to on all major streaming platforms. At Harvard she helped lead the initiative to write and implement a new, more inclusive student government, the Harvard Undergraduate Association, and led that structure as the Student Body Co-President in its inaugural year introducing new initiatives such as the Crimson Career Closet and Concentration Declaration Day.
