Michele Lamont received the Kohli Prize
On November 13, Michele Lamont received the Kohli Prize for sociology at the Social Science Center (WZB) in Berlin. The Kohli Foundation for Sociology is an independent private foundation dedicated to honor and promote excellent work that promises to move sociology forward. Once a year the Kohli Foundation awards the Kohli Prize for Sociology to honor exceptional achievement in and contributions to the field and profession of sociology. The prize comes with a $50,000 award.
This year, the selection committee nominated Michele Lamont for this honor. The laudation presented by Professor Jutta Allmendinger (former President of the WZB) praised Professor Lamont’s scholarly work on boundaries, inequalities and social worth. It emphasized her exceptional achievements, the importance of the research questions she tackled, the depth by which she conducts her research and the impact her work has on the field of sociology.”
