 (Organizational Behavior, May 2013)
*Thesis Title:* Intentional Ambiguity
*Committee:* Amy Edmondson (Co-chair, HBS), Christopher Winship (Co-chair), and Jeffrey Polzer (HBS)
*Initial Placement:* [Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour, Department of Management Science and Innovation, University College London, England](http://iris.ucl.ac.uk/iris/browse/profile?upi=VTANY56)

My [research](http://www.vaughntan.com/research.html) and [advisory practice](http://www.vaughntan.com/advisory.html) focus on principles for designing organizational structures and strategies that help companies and teams adapt to and innovate in uncertain environments. I'm an assistant professor at [University College London](http://www.ucl.ac.uk/)'s [School of Management](http://www.mgmt.ucl.ac.uk/people/vaughntan), where I teach strategy and design for undergraduates and doctoral students. I have worked with and studied innovators and innovations in food, drink, technology, and design for over a decade. I'm particularly interested in learning how some organizations that are exposed to uncertainty are able to flourish instead of responding—as so many others do—with paralysis or denial.
