*Research Interests:* Political sociology, digital media, Chinese studies, computational methods\\

**Rui Chen** is a Doctoral Student in Sociology. Rui is interested in the conceptual differences across entities, specifically the patterns of ideological differences that underpin the language individuals use in self-presentation on social media. Beyond social media, Rui is also interested in how these disparities in outlook evolve across generations and how significant societal shocks reshape discourses and perceptions. Methodologically, Rui is curious about how computational methods can be used for this purpose.
