 [Patrick Sharkey](https://www.patricksharkey.net/), will become Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs in the Woodrow Wilson School. He is one of the nation’s leading thinkers on inequality and urban life. Among his works are two pathbreaking books: *Stuck in Place: Urban Neighborhoods and the End of Progress* *Toward Racial Equality* and *Uneasy Peace: The Great Crime Decline, the Renewal of City Life, and the Next War on Violence*. Sharkey will join us from New York University, where he is currently chair of the Department of Sociology
