Her research spans the sociology of politics, science and technology, culture, and organizations. Her previous work examined the changing roles of technology in the workplace, including platform-based gig work and AI in service work. Her current research centers around the political economy of care work and technology. Specifically, she investigates how governments and markets develop AI and robotics solutions for eldercare, comparing approaches across countries with aging populations. In another line of work, she examines the impact of automation technologies on service workers. Broadly, she seeks to understand the consequences and implications of attempts to automate undervalued labor.
