Hey y’all! My name is Mikalah, a Senior from Dallas, TX living in Winthrop House! I am a double concentrator in Sociology and Government. I am primarily interested in systems of domination and public policy. I also love theory (let’s talk about post-colonial thought and the canon!). After the college, I plan to attend law school and pursue constitutional law scholarship and civil rights litigation!

Outside of academics, I serve on the Winthrop House Committee, volunteer with a legal aid organization, and love sports. When not doing school work, I am actively yelling at the Cowboys on Sundays, reading a book, or going to TJ Maxx.

**Why Sociology?**

I was drawn to sociology because I took a fantastic class during my first semester (Law and Society), and sociology was the perfect discipline to understand the processes that underlie social and political problems. I believe that in order to solve problems, you have to know where they come from and why they persist.
