 Mazen Elfakhani is a doctoral student in Sociology whose research is primarily in the area of economic sociology. His work has examined how households with different social backgrounds behave under conditions of financial distress, specifically with respect to spending and borrowing behaviors. Beyond this and other micro-level questions, he is currently focused on the institutional emergence of the on-demand economy and the financial lives of its workers.
