Hi! I'm Julian and I'm a senior in Dunster doing a double concentration in Sociology and Applied Math. I came to Harvard knowing I wanted to study something with math, but I found my love for sociology and declared it as a concentration in my junior fall. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made here! I am also doing a language citation in French, and I did a summer study abroad program in Paris which was one of the highlights of my time in college. Outside of my classes, I've been a course assistant for the Math 21 series and have been involved with the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter. I'm from the Boston area but still love to explore the city in my free time. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk about sociology or anything else– applied math/French/study abroad/community service/Boston restaurant recs/my chocolate labs!

**Why Sociology?**

I was first introduced to sociology in my first semester at Harvard, in my Expos class. I took a sociology course that was recommended by my Expos professor in the spring, and I immediately knew I wanted to take more classes in the department. In that class, I came to an important realization that has fueled my interest in sociology: you can make data say whatever you want it to. Sociology has taught me not only how to critique conclusions from data, but also how to critique the way that data is produced. Aside from the fact that sociology is just really interesting, I have loved learning about all of the steps that are involved in producing research.
