Research interests:  Organizations, work, migration, East Asian societies, and stratification.

Hilary J. Holbrow is the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies.  She received her Ph.D. in sociology from Cornell University in 2017 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs' Program on U.S.-Japan Relations.  Holbrow's research interests include organizations, work, migration, East Asian societies, and stratification. In particular, she focuses on untangling how culture and organizational practices interact in workplaces and labor markets to reproduce, exacerbate, or mitigate economic inequality.  Holbrow's research has been published in International Migration Review, Work and Occupations,  and Daedalus, and has received funding and recognition from the Fulbright Commission, the Japan Foundation, and the National Science Foundation.
