Spanning multiple levels of analysis and methodologies, his work is broadly concerned with the relationship between economic and social change, and the effects of those changes on the contours of contemporary inequality. More concretely, he is currently examining how processes of macro-economic change and social categorization have interacted to produce divergent developmental trajectories amongst deindustrialized cities within the United States. Prior to graduate school, D. A. served six years in the United States Air Force as a C-130 Crew Chief, separating from active duty with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his service, he graduated with high honors from the University of Arizona, where he examined the relationship between labor market deunionization and the evolution of American economic inequality since the 1970’s.
