Faculty and students in the Department of Sociology are engaged in a wide range of [research](/pages/research-clusters) projects spanning sites as close as downtown Boston to those as distant as El Salvador, Japan, and China. Research efforts are funded through federal agencies, private foundations, and numerous [research centers](/pages/resources) throughout Harvard. Department [workshops](/pages/workshops) provide a venue through which graduate students and faculty present ongoing research and engage in discussion of methodological and substantive challenges in their work.
