Race, Ethnicity and Immigration

This cluster focuses on racial and ethnic stratification in the United States, the changing meaning of race and ethnicity over time, racial and ethnic identity and its measurement and content, and the patterns of immigration and immigrant integration in the U.S. and Western Europe.  Courses in this cluster also cover racism and anti-racism and the meaning of “race” and “ethnicity” in different parts of the world.  Many faculty specialize in these areas and offer courses and workshops including Race and Ethnic Relations, Race and Crime, Sociology of Immigration, Mexican Migration Flows, Racism and Anti-Racism in Comparative Perspective, Immigration, Identity and Assimilation, and the Migration and Immigrant Incorporation and the Contemporary Studies of Race and Ethnicity workshops.
