We view gender and the family as distinct but often overlapping dimensions of social stratification. We share a commitment to producing rigorous research that both reveals and explains these relationships. Scholarship in this cluster is methodologically diverse, including in-depth interviewing, ethnographic, historical, comparative, and quantitative approaches. An informal biweekly working group brings together faculty and graduate students working in this area.
