Joint Concentration

All joint concentrators in Sociology must write a sociological thesis. Therefore, the Sociology Department permits joint concentrations only with programs that can, in theory, accommodate the requirement that the thesis use sociological theories and methods exclusively. It is the student’s responsibility to ascertain that both concentrations agree to this commitment in practice.

Contingent on the approval of both concentrations, Sociology permits joint concentrations with the following programs:

African and African American Studies
Applied Mathematics
Computer Science
East Asian Studies
Environmental Science and Public Policy
History and Science
Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations
Religion, Comparative Study of
South Asian Studies
Statistics
Women, Gender, Sexuality, Studies of

Joint concentrations with other fields are not permitted.
