2020 Mirra Komarovsky Book Award presented to Anthony Abraham Jack
Congratulations to Anthony Abraham Jack (Ph.D. 2016) whose book The Privileged Poor: How Elite Colleges Are Failing Disadvantaged Students (Harvard University Press, 2019) is a co-winner of the Mirra Komarovsky Book Award for 2020.

Cinzia Solari was a 2020 Mirra Komarovsky Book Award co-winner, for her book On the Shoulders of Grandmothers: Gender, Nation, and Post-Soviet Nation-Building (Routledge Press, 2018). This award honors the memory of Mirra Komarovsky, a pioneer in the sociology of gender. Jack received the award at the Eastern Sociological Society Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, on February 29.

The Privileged Poor is an NPR Books Best Book of 2019 and the recipient of the 2019 Critics’ Choice Book Award from the American Educational Studies Association and the 2019 CEP–Mildred García Award for Exemplary Scholarship from the Council on Ethnic Participation of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE-CEP).
