Professor Ellis Monk has been awarded Sociology's 2019 Kahrl Award for Excellence in Teaching.George Kahrl, '83 established the Kahrl award some years ago in recognition of Professor Stephen Cornell's outstanding commitment to undergraduate education at Harvard. It is given to a junior faculty member in the department who has made outstanding contributions to undergraduate education, enthusiasm for students, and scholarly guidance. A committee of undergraduate students poll concentrators to choose a recipient and present their nominee to the Committee on Undergraduate Degrees. The award was presented during our Senior Reception, May 2, 2019.
