## **Declaring Sociology:**

Note that you must complete all of the steps below in order for your declaration to be approved. *If you submit a declaration on my.Harvard without first meeting with an advisor or attaching a Plan of Study form, your declaration will not be approved.*

### Sophomores declaring before the declaration deadline (10/10/2025)

**1.** **Step One: Attend a Declaration Info Session.** The department will be holding Declaration Info Sessions during the Fall semester. The sessions will cover concentration requirements and how to complete the Plan of Study form. [**Please RSVP here if you're planning to attend.**](https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/btmP3wft23)

- Wednesday, 10/1/2025: 3-4pm, William James Hall 601
- Friday, 10/3/2025: 11:30am-12:30pm, William James Hall 450
- Thursday, 10/9/2025: 12-1pm, William James Hall 601

**2. Step Two: Complete the Plan of Study Form**, save, and upload to your Plan of Study on the Declaration of Concentration page through your my.Harvard.

**3. Step Three: Declare your concentration on my.Harvard** (instructions [here](https://harvard.service-now.com/ithelp?id=kb_article&sys_id=529e5ecadb6f4f04a914fff31d96190c)).

**4.** Our office will look over your Plan of Study Form and approve your declaration!

Declaring after the declaration deadline, adding a double concentration, or changing to a Sociology Concentration

**1.** **Step One: Meet with an advisor.** [Meet with a member of our Undergraduate Program Team](/pages/advising) to discuss your interest in Sociology and course planning.

**2. Step Two: Complete the Plan of Study Form**, save, and upload to your Plan of Study on the Declaration of Concentration page through your my.Harvard.

**4.** Our office will look over your Plan of Study Form and approve your declaration!

## **Double Concentrators**

- Beginning in Fall 2022, students are able to declare a **Double Concentration**. Students who pursue a double concentration will complete the full requirements for two separate concentrations during their time at Harvard. - Double Concentrators should follow the procedures listed above to declare a Sociology concentration.

## **Joint Concentrators**

Joint concentrators must submit an application to Sociology and need approval from both departments to declare.
