Radcliffe Institute 2013-2014 Fellows Presentation Series talk by Mary Brinton, Reischauer Institute Professor of Sociology, Harvard University.

During the Radcliffe fellowship year, Mary C. Brinton is working on a comparative project that asks why fertility has dropped to very low levels in some postindustrial societies and not others. She is using original in-depth interviews of young men and women in Japan, Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the United States to examine how the incomplete gender-role revolution hinders family formation in the postindustrial context.
