Eastern Sociological Society Mini-Conference on Comparative Cultural Sociology

Date:

Saturday, March 23, 2013 (All day) to Sunday, March 24, 2013 (All day)

On March 23-34, the Harvard Culture and Social Analysis Workshop is organizing a Mini-Conference on Comparative Cultural Sociology. The Mini-Conference will be part of the Eastern Sociological Society’s annual meeting, which takes place in Boston this year at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers. The goal of the conference is to bring together scholars working at the frontier of comparative cultural research, in an effort to discuss some of the central challenges facing the field. The twenty-four papers selected from over one hundred excellent submissions deal with topics related to institutions, identity, symbolic boundaries, cultural repertoires, evaluation, and cultural mechanisms and processes. What unites these diverse projects is an explicit commitment to confronting fundamental problems of theory and method in the interest of producing more rigorous cultural comparisons.  See Preliminary Program
