# Double Concentration

Beginning in Fall 2022, students are able to declare a **Double Concentration**. Students who pursue a double concentration will complete the full requirements for two separate fields of study during their time at Harvard. Unlike a joint concentration, there will be no reduction in course-work and a thesis is not necessary, but may be undertaken. Please see the Registrar's Office's page on [Double Concentrations](https://registrar.fas.harvard.edu/academic-programs#double) for further information. Further info may be found in the [Harvard College Handbook for Students.](https://handbook.college.harvard.edu/files/collegehandbook/files/jdgpharvard_college_student_handbook_22_23_secured.pdf)

Those choosing to pursue a double concentration should plan to download the Sociology [Plan of Study](/sites/hwpi.harvard.edu/files/sociology/files/2023_-_sociology_concentration_plan_of_study_0.pdf?m=1689171875) to be filled out and uploaded to my.harvard. Remember, the requirements for a double concentration are the same as for a straight Sociology concentrator. Further instructions may be found here: [Declaring Sociology](/how-declare-sociologyplan-study).

Please schedule an appointment with Dr. Emily Fairchild, who will be able to discuss your plan and accept your Declaration of Concentration: [https://calendly.com/fairchild-sociology/spring2023](/calendly.com/fairchild-sociology/spring2023).
