“Unpolicing the Urban Poor: Consequences of Third Party Policing for Inner-City Women,” an article co-authored by Matthew Desmond and Nicol Valdez of Columbia University, has been selected to receive the 2014 Distinguished Contribution to Scholarship Article Award from the ASA Race, Gender and Class Section for it's outstanding contribution to the study of race, gender, and class.
